Inside / Outside Rental Sales Associate (NO POSITION AVAILABLE)


The Inside / Outside Sales position manages the relationship with assigned customers. The position also assists customers over the phone and in person by recommending rental equipment and accessories that best meets the customer’s event needs and completes all paperwork associated with the rental. The IOSA must be able to service customers in a polite, friendly and professional manner whether in person or on the telephone. They will assist customers with reservations, contracts, questions, register transactions and order adjustments. The IOSA will also attend appropriate industry functions and networking events in an effort to generate more business. Must be able to process cash and credit card payments, as well as make change and credits. Regarding outside sales, the Inside / Outside Sales Associate is responsible for generating sales that are outside of the main S+C offices.  They will work closely with the Warehouse Manager in developing sales goals and tracking and reviewing sales with the WM.

+ Manages list of existing customers provided by the Sales Manager, to nurture existing relationships and secure future business as the need arises
+ Calls on prospects to explain features and costs of services and their respective advantages
+ Enters new orders and completes updates on existing orders for customers
+ Meets with customers in our showroom to determine the event type and recommends appropriate rental equipment, décor equipment and accessories based on the customer’s needs; shows the customer suggested equipment and table displays
+ Addresses customer inquiries that are received over the phone
+ Prepares rental contracts, reviews terms and conditions of the contract and damage waiver options with the customers and obtains customer signature and deposits
+ Updates the rental contract with customer changes. Coordinates customer changes with fulfillment and delivery
+ Processes cash and credit card payments
+ Prepares “will-call” customer contracts
+ Contacts customers with past due rental returns
+ Arranges showroom displays, maintains a clean showroom and keeps shelves organized and stocked with rental equipment
+ Maintains a neat desk with minimal personal items
+ Responds to customer service problems and resolves complaints and/or refers complaints to the appropriate department
+ Attends industry related functions as assigned by manager
+ Applicant must be able to work weekends, as events usually fall on the weekends, and we are open on Saturdays
+ Update and call overdue list daily and alerts supervisor of overdue contracts
+ Make outgoing calls to new leads
+ Make cold calls to generate new leads
+ Maintain and update sales spreadsheet and submit to Warehouse Manager on weekly basis.  Assist WM with incentives and sales department team building
+ Meet individual sales goals as set by the department
+ Report safety violations to supervisor
+ Fill in for other positions, when necessary, for smooth operation of the business
+ Network with other industry professionals
+ Provide design recommendations to our customers
+ Guide and assist clients in achieving their event vision and consult with them to determine event details
+ Oversee the planning and installation of projects, including being onsite for event installations/breakdowns (might fall in the evening or weekends)
+  Supervise crews on installations and assist with event set ups as needed
+ Schedule and attend appointments with clients at venues and/or in our showroom
+ Attend walkthroughs on job sites
+ Create CAD diagrams based on meetings, walkthroughs, and event spaces
+ Attend and market at event industry socials, mixers, conferences, bridal shows, and trade shows (follow up with any new potential clients after)
+ General Administrative/Clerical work will be required (filing, etc.)
+ Assists other Inside Sales/ Customer Service Representatives when needed
+ Follows all procedures for safety violations and injuries
+ Adheres to all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form
+ Attends department, location and safety meetings


+ Must maintain a professional personal appearance
+ Knowledge of the event industry. Prior catering, event planning or other hospitality experience a plus
+ Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite
+ Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Outlook, Word and Excel
+  Associates degree in marketing, communications, business, English, art, fashion or other related subjects
+ 3+ years’ experience in food and beverage, arts or events planning business in a high volume, demanding and customer focused environment
+ Ability to thrive in a team orientated, fast pace and innovative environment
+ Strong sense of ethics, etiquette and tact
+ Ability to establish and develop relationships with customers, internal and external
+ Problem solver and solution oriented with the ability to identify and handle conflicts timely

+ Good to excellent computer skills including use of MS office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
+ Availability to work flexible day/night and weekend schedules due to the seasonal nature of the S+C customers’ business volume.  Be able to adhere to assigned schedule as business dictates
+ Must possess sales and customer relation skills
+ Have a book of business in the party rental industry—preferred but not mandatory
+ Must be able to use mathematics to solve problems
+ Computer knowledge is preferred. Training on rental software will be provided
+ Must be able to speak English clearly and write legibly. The ability to speak Spanish is a plus
+ Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs.
+ Must pass company drug screens / background check
+ Must maintain an acceptable attendance record
+ Must be able to provide, understand and complete instructions furnished in written, oral or scheduled form
+ Maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers
+ Must be able to maintain a high degree of patience
